“This is/We are Taiwan.”

My calligraphy work. As titled.

This phrase came from the announcer in the opening ceremony of Tokyo Olympics 2020/2021, who addressed the “nationality” of Taiwan team.

For decades, the Taiwan team were forced to bear the bizarre name “Chinese Taipei” due to the bizarre rules given by the International Olympic Committee for political reasons.

As a Taiwanese, I’d be more than happy to hear the Taiwan name instead of CT; and I am grateful for the trend and the Japanese announcer that give back the name we’re supposed to be called.
